Q&A
Agent:
We had an agent contact us wanting clarification on how to properly set up Clover for a merchant. The merchant needed to set up its scales as variable. He provided the following scenario:
“Let’s say I keep it at a per unit price. However, I have it set up on Clover to $6.99/lb. The price increases to $7.99 lb, the scale is updated with this price. I sell 1 lb of an item and scan it. Does Clover pull $6.99 (from the per unit price in inventory) or $7.99 (per unit from the barcode/scale)?
Reason I ask, some of these items are bagged and have a sticker but the sticker / barcode isn’t always perfect. So as not to have to stop the checkout for a price check, this merchant would like to retain the “default” pricing in Clover in case they have to manually process it.”
CSI Works Support:
The answer to this agent’s question is:
“No, if you setup an item as Per unit on Clover you are indicating the price per unit in clover as well.
When the price of an item changes merchant would have to update price on Clover and on Scale.
This is one of the reasons why merchants choose to setup an item as Variable and use Variable Price Barcode Parser instead because of this very issue.”
