Q&A

Butcher
Hello, I am trying to set up the Weight Embedded Barcode application on Clover to work with our variable barcodes. We sell beef that we process ourselves, so the products are weighed and labeled with TemPac / Scale Manager (specifically made for beef processing) and then brought to our retail store to sell. I am just trying to get Clover to recognize the barcodes. Our items are sold at a fixed price Per Unit (lb). In this example, this item is sold at $17.50/lb. The product codes from our scale system are 3 digits; this one is 002, some are 303, 301, etc. I have them entered into Clover under product code as 5 digits – in this case, 00002. Just hoping to get some direction as to how to get this system to recognize our barcode, if it’s possible!
Butcher Label With Price Embedded

CSI Works Expert

The barcode you have is Price Embedded.
The app you need to use is called Variable Price Barcode Parser.
Uninstall the weight embedded barcode parser and install variable price barcode parser.

Butcher
The first application I used was the Variable Price Barcode Parser and it still would not recognize the barcodes either.

CSI Works Expert
How did you set it up?
Can you provide similar details as to how you have created an item and what barcode type setting in our app you’ve chosen?

Butcher
This item specifically:

• Created in Clover, with “Per Unit” price at $17.50 / lb (NOT “Variable” price, which is what I saw in all of the setup demonstrations for this app).
• Product code set to “00002”, the product code in our scale system and what ends up on the first half of the barcode.

As for type setting in the app, I’m not sure where to even view or modify that information.

CSI Works Expert
Make these updates:

• Make the item variable price type in Clover..
• In product code set to 200002 do not ignore the first 2

• Open variable price barcode parser, click on 3 lines in top left corner to open menu, then click on settings, then on barcode types. You’ll see 3 options you can choose from pick option 3 and save.

Butcher
Hmm… that is not working either. Would the type of scanner I’m using cause issues? I saw on your app that it said something about buying a scanner specifically from Clover.

CSI Works Expert
Yes. If your barcode scanner did not come directly from Clover it wont work.

Butcher
Right after I sent that last email I tried it with the integrated Clover scanner and it still is not working.

CSI Works Expert
I used your label on my clover and shot this video. All seems to work for me.

Please watch the video and follow the instructions I made for you in it.

Butcher
Thank you, I was able to get it to work, however I have one issue: Having the price set to Variable creates a problem with our COGS and inventory tracking… we are processing a whole beef today and barcoding the labels. We put our inventory in as the total weight of all the items. For example, if we have two ribeyes in stock that weigh 0.75 lbs each, the total quantity on hand is 1.25 lbs. Currently we manually input the quantity (weight) at point of sale and the price is calculated because they are “price per unit” items and our COGS (cost) is per pound also. I’m worried that when we sell the products at variable price, it won’t remove the weight from inventory or give us an accurate COGS on hand. Have you ever had someone needing to use this application that needed to use price per unit? Can you advise?

CSI Works Expert

Yes, I am familiar with this issue.

Today you have barcodes that embed total price. Because of this you are using Variable Price Barcode Parser. The app requires that you set up items as Variable. In this case you cannot know the break down of pounds in Clover.
You can do what you need but it requires some work.
1. You will need to switch your barcode that is printed from scale to embed total weight instead of total price.
2. Then on Clover you will need to uninstall Variable Price Barcode Parser and Install Weight Embedded Barcode Parser
3. In Clover inventory you will change the item from Variable Price Type to Per Unit Price Type.

Here is a video showing the difference between price and weight embedded barcodes:

This will accomplish what you are looking to do.

Agent
I am a Sr. Business Consultant, direct with CLOVER and have a question about a client’s needs. They are a GROCERY store with bar code scanning and labels. They are liking what your app shows and offers but we are needing clarification/verification on the compatible bar code scanners.

Clover does not make a specific scanner as there are (2) options:
1. Use the integrated scanner within the POS
2. Use a compatible ZEBRA DS 2208 bar code scanner

Can you please provide us with insight on options for the bar code to be read by CLOVER equipment? Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.

CSI Works Support:
Our solution will work with barcode scanners that are purchased directly from Clover.
Indeed, Clover offers 2 models you can see it here: https://clover.com/pos/accessories.
As long as the barcode scanners are purchased from Clover they will come properly configured to work with our app.

Here is a video explanation of barcode issue if its not bought from Clover Directly:https://youtu.be/aTKq_Z0Ffyg

Merchant

The barcode scanners we have did not come from Clover.
Do you know someone who can help us configure the scanners we have?

CSI Works Support:
If the scanner is the same model clover sells, theoretically its possible but, we do not know how to do that. Our recommendation is to buy scanner from Clover.

Agent
Thanks for the response. Are you stating that this is a matter of CLOVER programming the barcode scanner prior to shipping it out? I know clover does sell the DS2208 but not aware of us actually encrypting, programming etc prior to it being deployed.

Please confirm your thoughts and can proceed with internal inquiry with CLOVER.

CSI Works Support:
I am stating that if you buy the same model barcode scanner from Clover it will be plug and play,
If you get the same model barcode scanner from amazon it will not be plug and play even thought it’s the same model.

CSI Works Support:

I can be 100% certain if you can provide a picture of a label printed from any scale by genie that you are considering.

Agent:

CSI Works Support:

There is no barcode on that label. We cannot do anything with it.
This label is information about ingredients. It appears to be all there is.

Agent:

CSI Works Support:

This label shows total price and total price is not reflected in the barcode. Usually we are expecting either total price or total weight to be embedded in the second part of the barcode.
Here is a video of what kind of label would work for Variable Price Barcode Parser or for Weight Embedded Barcode Parser.

CSI Works Support:

The difference between Variable Price Barcode Parser vs Weight Embedded Barcode Parser is technical ;

One is not better than the other in any way. Its just that some scale print weight embedded barcodes and some scale prints price embedded barcodes. Depending on which one your scale is configured to that would drive the decision on which app you need to use.

Agent:

An agent contacted our office because his merchant was using the Variable Price Barcode Parser and reported that the barcodes weren’t reading the correct information. Our merchant wrote:

“I set the merchant up to test their scale.

When the merchant scans this barcode clover reads 23.114 lb at $300.25

I am using the Variable Price Barcode Parser with 200035 in product code field.

We enabled the app in accessibility.”

CSI Works Support:

First check what kind of barcodes you are printing and ensure you have installed the appropriate app.

For this type of an error, we asked that they uninstall Variable Price Barcode Parser and install Weight Embedded Barcode Parser.

This is because the label provided in the picture is Weight Embedded and not price embedded.

“Attached is a file with two copies of scale receipts.  They use a Digi SM-5000 scale.

Can you advise a setup that will eliminate the rounding issue?

The merchant is using the Variable Price Barcode Parser app.”

CSI Works Support:

There are two ways to solve this issue

  1. Quick way.

Switch the item to Variable instead of Per Unit in Clover Inventory app this will resolve the wrong rounding issue.

  1. Longer Way.

If your merchant wants to see the weight on transaction and wants to keep using Per Unit then they would need to switch their scale settings to print weight embedded barcode instead of price embedded and on Clover, they would remove Variable Price Barcode Parser and install Weight Embedded Barcode Parser.

A merchant using the Weight Embedded Barcode Parser app with their Clover Duo and wanted to know if they could track the number of packages sold instead of the pounds sold.

They have their weight embedded in their barcode and have the items and price per unit. So when they add stock inventory it considers it to be the total pounds instead of the number of packages.

CSI Works Support:

No, to have the ability to read weight embedded barcodes item must remain as Per Unit

The inventory tracking will track whatever number you put in qty but item unit is the field where you specify what it is LB or KG.

Weight Embedded Barcode Parser only works with items that are setup per unit

Our support team ran some tests with Variable Price Barcode Parser that works with items that are setup Variable.

But that still did not work. Check out this video:

I bought a scale from you last year and I’m using your apps on Clover.

Here are our challenges:

We want all our products to move to weight only on the bar code since pricing in agriculture is going up.

Can we setup your app to recognize the old and new label and parse them correctly?

Our existing products have the last four digits, before the final check digit reserved for the price.

New products will have the last four digits reserved for the weight.

In the picture Pork Chops is New and Beef is old.

We use the scale we bought from you to also make a chicken label with price in the bar code.  We have to work

Agent:

We have a merchant that will be using your application. However, the LS-100 that we were trying to scan the barcodes for. After the setup, it was doing the opposite as described on the app market.

In other words, the scanned item, Instead of pricing up and pushing the custom info, it wanted to add it into the clover inventory, and we would need to name it and hit save.

The merchant was thinking if this is how the application works. Then they would see no reason to use it.

This is why I need your help.

I captured two pictures to see if it can help.

The barcode info shows 2 00000 31398 2.

I was thinking were the 0’s is should it have been 6 digits?

And if you ask accessibility was enabled for the Weight embedded barcode parser, as described on the tutorial setup on your app market.

CSI Works Support:

I have a question In the attached picture where you show barcode I see that you have installed app called Variable Price Barcode Parser.

That is in fact the app you need.

However in email before you reference Weight Embedded Barcode Parser as one for which you’ve enabled the accessibility settings.

If you are using the app Weight Embedded Barcode Parser please uninstall it. Based on label I see you need Variable Price Barcode Paser.

Now assuming that you have Variable Price Barcode Parser installed and that accessibility settings are turned on.

You need to first open inventory app and add this new item to your inventory when you do add it to inventory do so as Variable Price item and not as fixed priced.

Then in product code field enter 200000

Save this item in inventory then you can go to register and scan this barcode and the price will be picked up as you expect.

Agent:

To have clarity we can have an item like this in the inventory.

And moving forward any other scanned label.

From the LS-100 weight scale would work?

CSI Works Support:

Blas yes this would work.

Just need to set it up first. Please reference this video: https://youtu.be/f8FKjVPnjME

Agent:

I wanted to reach out to you and say thank you. It appears that we won the battle of the barcodes but not the war.

The Clover App parser was also providing some miss match reading. I wanted to confirm if the merchant scale was not properly set up. Since on the miss match reading It was accurate.

Maybe you can help I am attaching this image so you could see. The pattern of some of these items.

Notes:

200111 50154 4  Price showed up as $501.54

200115 00220 7 Price showed correct as $2.20

200101 50154 7 Price showed up as $501.54

200167 00176 0 Price showed correct $1.76

CSI Works Support:

Yes, I see the image and notes of how the price is read. To fix this issue follow these instructions:

  1. Open Variable Price Barcode Parser.
  2. Navigate to Settings on the Top Corner.
  3. Barcode Format
  4. Choose the barcode format that is represented for $99.99
  5. Save

This will adjust the way our app reads the barcode, and you won’t have to adjust the barcode on the scale.

Agent:

You’re instructions worked great. In addition, I added the descriptor and the first 6-digit barcode.

And all the custom cuts for the listing worked and the merchant was happy.

If you could provide a full listing of compatible weight scale models. This would be great to know this gives hope to merchants. With already purchase weight scales a chance to update their POS.

Your application would be my first recommendation to merchants with a Deli, Mini Market, Super Market.

CSI Works Support:

I do not have a list of models but here is a formula for you to go by:

If the scale your merchant has prints barcode labels and printer is integrated into scale, then it will work 100% if you are looking at a scale and printer connected to scale with wire that setup will never work.

If you have merchants who ask for scale to purchase keep in mind we sell and fully support and train merchants when they buy equipment from us.

You can see what we sell here: www.scale4clover.com

Does this all still apply?

  • All Clover devices are fine.
  • Must have barcode scanner which is sold by clover (Cannot buy anywhere else) They have 2 options both will work.
  • They will need Register plan which gives them access to “Per Unit” or “Variable” price type in inventory.
  • Clover would have to be not just their payment terminal but it has to be their register as well.

Next steps:

  • Buy label printing scale if bought from us then it can be purchased here: www.casforclover.com or www.torreyforclover.com
  • Buy Barcode scanner from clover.
  • Once scale is received setup Inventory items in scale.
  • Setup inventory items in Clover
  • Dump other POS begin using Clover as register and payment terminal (they can use clover equipment they have now or upgrade to station )

Think that’s it in a nutshell.

CSI Works Support:

Yes, all still applies.

Now have updated link www.scale4clover.com

Carries all brands.

Agent:

Since they have a CAS now and are used to it, does it make sense to stay with that brand or other suggestions?

Clover integrated any farther along or will programming still require a windows computer and usb connection?

CSI Works Support:

With CAS they will always need Windows computer and USB connection. (Although some higher end models by cas offer wifi connection to computer)

With Detecto or USA Measurements there’s an option to do the programming on a computer and instead of connecting scale to computer the data is transferred to scale via USB Thumb Drive.  (First you download the data file to thumb drive from computer, then you plug the drive to scale and transfer the file with all the settings and data in it. )

There is no connection between the scale and Clover ever.

The Barcode Parser apps enable clover to read price or weight embedded barcodes.

How to Troubleshoot Variable Price Barcode Parser Rounding Error

Type: Support Call

Products Discussed: Weight Embedded Barcode, Variable Price Barcode Parser

Q&A

Agent:

We have an issue with a Clover system using the Variable Price Barcode Parser app with a Kitchen Scale. The issue is that the scale weighs and calculates the final price for the product, yet when the barcode is scanned on the Clover, for some reason one cent is subtracted from the total price.  It only happens occasionally with random items, so we suspect it might have something to do with a Rounding Error/Issue.

CSI Works Support:

Yes, I am very well familiar with the issue. You are correct it is in fact rounding issue because of double rounding once by scale once by our app on clover.

Scale figures out total price by calculating weight to unit price. We take total price and calculate down to figure out total weight. Sometimes the number is off by a cent either direction very rarely or even in one merchant not on all items.

There are 2 ways of solving this

  1. Switch your item price type from “Per Unit” to “Variable” This is the quickest way to solve the issue. The reason why this works is because we will stop reverse calculation to a number that scale started from and simply will pass total price into variable priced item.

OR

  1. Change your scale to encode weight instead of price into barcode. And on clover end switch from Variable price barcode parser to Weight embedded barcode parser. That way scale will stop doing an extra calculation because it will send total weight and our Weight Embedded Barcode parser will pick up total weight and calculate total price which will always match what scale calculated because we are both using same base number “total weight”

This solution is more involved and requires settings change on scale and app swap on clover. The inventory part will remain intact you will just need to switch apps after scale has been reconfigured to encode different barcode (weight instead of price).

Agent:

Thank you very much for the insight, we discussed both alternatives with the merchant and I believe we are going to change the Clover prices to Variable.

Will this cause any changes in the reporting for Clover? I think the Items report will no longer report per unit sold, correct?

I was going to point them towards using this one from your site, unless you have other suggestions?

It also states you provide support. Do you offer setup/training calls to familiarize themselves with your system + app?

Even though the CL5000 scale is discontinued, will it still work with your app if a merchant has one?

CSI Works Support: With the use of Variable Price Barcode Parser merchants can use any label printing scale.

We certainly sell it and the link you mentioned www.cas4clover.com is our site.

If your merchant purchases their scale from us then the training, support and assistance with scale is included as well as assistance with setup on clover via Variable price barcode parser. We provide assistance via phone, zoom call, combination of videos we make based on situation with merchants.

In any case we assist 100% to get setup and address merchants questions in the process.

Q&A

Merchant:  We just purchased clover POS and have the Hobart Quantum scales for our meat market. Will your app be able to read the weight embedded labels from this scale and work with clover?

CSI Works Support: Thank you for reaching out. Yes, our app will be able to read the weight embedded labels from this scale.

We have 2 apps to handle any barcode format (Price embedded or weight embedded)

In any case if your scale prints labels with embedded barcodes our app will be able to work with that.

You’d only ever need to install one of the two apps depending on the kind of barcode you have.

Merchant:
Hi CAS, Could you advise which compatible scale models are for this app? Thanks a lot!

CSI Works Support:
Our company is not CAS we are CSI Works. We sell CAS among other brands.

There are too many scale units to list that can be made to work with Clover.

Here is a PDF Capability Statement showing everything we offer for Sell by Weight merchants including links for scale stores.

How to Choose the Proper Scale For Convenience Store / Meat Market?

How to Buy the Proper Scale fpr Convienence Stores/ Meat Markets

Call Type: Agent Pre-sale Support

Products Discussed: Variable Price Barcode Parser/ Weight Embedded Barcode Parser/ Redeem Lottery App

Use Case:

Agent: I have a merchant who has a convenience store/meat market/.../.../.../etc. I want to make sure I get him the right scale/barcode printer.

Solution Proposition:

CSI Works Support: We sell multiple barcode printing scales on our site. We offer support and training for CAS and Tor-rey scales, at the same price as Amazon, but they instead offer no training but they do give a $40 case of labels.

If you want a scale to work with our Variable Price Barcode Parser and Weight-Embedded Barcode Parser apps, you need to buy a scale that prints barcodes with the price or weight inside. You can ask the sales agents about the barcodes that a scale prints, but the scales we sell on our site work great. However, we sell the newer or newest models, which are a bit pricey.

Agent: How about the lottery? I haven’t found a lottery application that lets you scan the lottery ticket on Clover and then give a payout.

CSI Works Support: Our lottery app, Redeem Lottery App

How to Set up a Product Code for Torrey Scale

How to Set up Product Codes for Torrey Scale

Products supported: Weight Embedded Barcode Parser

Problem Statement:

Merchant: I have a Clover station. I just purchased Tor-rey scale, and it doesn’t read the barcodes.

CSI Works Support: You say the Variable Price Barcode Parser app doesn’t work?

Merchant: Well, the barcode is not in the same form, so it’s normal but it doesn’t read it.

CSI Works Support: Please send me a picture of the barcode.

Troubleshooting:

barcode pic milk
barcode pic my store

Solution:

These barcodes need the Weight-Embedded Barcode Parser, and was printed with a Torrey W-Label scale.

CSI Works Support: So, tell me how you set this up on Clover?

Merchant: It just doesn’t read it. I just type the price. Before, you had me program it, I had only one barcode, and its Product Code on Clover is 200000, that’s the code you gave to me. This one seems to have more 0s.

CSI Works Support: So in Clover, in the inventory, what are you putting for the product code?

Merchant: I don’t put anything. I just purchased this scale 3 days ago

CSI Works Support: Open the inventory app please.

Merchant: I have an item called Meat. And I used to have the previous barcode that you gave me.

CSI Works Support: What is Meat’s product code?

Merchant: I have 200,000.

CSI Works Support: Can you make it just 6 zeroes? (000000), without the two?

Merchant: Ok. *counting zeroes* one two three four five six. Ok.

CSI Works Support: And is the pricing type set up as variable?

Merchant: Yes. It was working fine before.

CSI Works Support: Oh okay, you just changed the scale. Can you try to scan it now, in the register?

Merchant’s Scanner: Beep.

Merchant: Yes, it’s working now.

Merchant: Ok, good. Now I have a question: I sell different kinds of meat, lamb, goat, chicken,... and before my previous scale, I couldn’t program it, so we set up all barcodes for one kind of meat. That made Clover’s inventory change report say that there’s just meat that has been sold. But it doesn’t tell me what kind of meat. So now I wanna separate it. I tried to find the Tor-rey W-Label website, but I couldn’t find it. I’m having an issue programming it because I can’t find the manual. I didn’t get a CD with the scale, and I’m trying to get help from Youtube.

CSI Works Support: Hey! We now have a video that explains how to use the scale!
You also should be able to find a manual for this scale somewhere on the internet.

You can add items to the Tor-rey scale and then add them to Clover, and it would work.

Merchant: but I’ll need a different barcode, right?

CSI Works Support: When you add your items to the scale, it will print a different barcode for every different item.

Merchant: So suppose I add an item Lamb with a PLU 101 and Beef is 102, It’s gonna generate a different barcode?

CSI Works Support: Yes, and then Clover will recognise it as lamb or as beef.

Merchant: So I don’t have to change anything in Clover.

CSI Works Support: No, once you do need to do it: you have to add all of your meat to your scale and then add all of your meat to your Clover

Merchant: So when I put the item into Clover, what product code do I put for the Lamb?

CSI Works Support: Well, I looked at the barcode that you printed from the Tor-rey and I see that it’s six zeros (000000), so when you create a different plu, the first 7 digits (you want to enter 6 of them into Clover, leave the first one or the seventh one out) will be different, so you’ll use those digits instead.

To get the product code that will work for Clover, do this:

After getting the Weight-Embedded Barcode Parser and enabling it (open the app and it will tell you what you need to do), go to the inventory app on Clover and put the 6 digits between the 7th-to-last digit in the barcode and the 12th-to-last digit in the barcode as the product code:

barcode pic my store purple
barcode pic my store

And also give the item a name. If you are using the weight-embedded parser, you must put the price per unit into the inventory app as well.

Merchant: I sent you another label, it’s not working.

CSI Works Support: Try to change it from 000000 to 200000.

Merchant: Yess, now it’s working. Thank you. So now, next time or tomorrow I’m gonna start entering the products by code into my torrey scale. So normally, I’m gonna say this is lamb, this is chicken leg, this is chicken breast, so when I print them and scan on the clover, it should say chicken breast.

CSI Works Support: So this item that you sent me you called…

Merchant: This is “Meat”.

CSI Works Support: What you did to put this item in Clover, do the same thing on your scale. Use the same name, and find the product code. Enter all the items into both Clover and your scale. Not all of the product codes will be 200000 like I sent you, the 6-digit number depends on what’s on the product code. 200000 is only for this item. For the other item, you want it to be something like 000001 or 20001 or 001337.

Merchant: When I create a new product, I’m gonna see what it’s gonna print and then go from there.

Call Type: Pre-sale Support

Call Reported On: 01/02/03

Products supported: Variable Price Barcode Parser/ Weight Embedded Barcode Parser

Use Case:

Troubleshooting:

This depends on the labels that come out of your label-printing scale. These printers also put the product’s packing date, total price, total weight, and product name in human-readable text onto the label. If the price’s digits can be found within the latter half of the barcode, then use the Variable Price Barcode Parser. If the weight’s digits can be found within the latter half of the barcode, use the Weight-Embedded Barcode Parser.

Solution Proposition:

This barcode needs the Variable Price Barcode Parser

barcode pic milk

This barcode needs the Weight-Embedded Barcode Parser

Please don’t use both apps at the same time, as they will conflict with each other.

After getting the app, go to the inventory app on Clover and add put the 6 digits between the 7th-to-last digit in the barcode and the 12th-to-last digit in the barcode as the product code:

050425

001337

And also give the item a name. If you are using the weight-embedded parser, you must put the price per unit into the inventory app as well.

Does my Barcode Scanner Have to be Purchased From Clover?

Does my Barcode Scanner Have to be Purchased From Clover?

Call Type: Support Call

Products Discussed: Barcode Scanner

Problem Statement:

Merchant: Here is the scenario I am working with:

  • We use a Clover station 2018.

  • I have the item set up according to the instructions. I set up a few different items in the system.

  • I tried to utilize an external scanner (usb) and it would not work.

The external scanner seems to be stripping the leading character away, but when I scan the item in notepad and/or in Clover, the leading digit is there.

  • When I used the internal camera, the program worked just fine.

Solution:

CSI Works support: Is it possible that your external scanner is not purchased from Clover?

Merchant: I-is it that specific??

CSI Works Support: It has to be that specific. The built-in camera with a software scanner in the clover device can scan weight-embedded barcodes just fine, but a usb scanner not from clover works less like a linear camera and more like a keyboard, just outputting a string of numbers when it scans. Make sure to use a Clover barcode scanner for weight-embedded barcodes because other barcode scanners will not work. Fixed-price items work fine sometimes with non-clover scanners because you can enter their codes and serial numbers by keyboard, while the clover scanner will scan half the barcode to get the item code and then the other half of the barcode to get the weight or price.

Clover sells two scanners, one that is on a wire and you scan things with it; the other one is stationary so you can scan against it.

Merchant: So you’re telling me the built-in camera, which is a Clover-developed app, works just fine.

CSI Works support: So your external scanner is not from Clover?

Merchant: It is, it’s a Honeywell 2D image scanner, a little bit more sophisticated.

CSI Works support: I know it’s misleading because it works on fixed-price (and therefore fixed-barcode) items, but that’s only because fixed-price items are sufficient for keyboard entry, where as us, we’re putting a bit of a logic into it: only read this part of the barcode and then only read the next part of the barcode. That function is really breaking everything up, because we’re not really dealing with a scanner, we’re dealing with a keyboard.

Problem Statement:

Merchant: We are using your app, the Variable Price Barcode Parser, I have a clover system. I downloaded the Weight Embedded Barcode Parser and the Variable Price one. For some reason, it’s not working on one of my Clover registers so I think I did something wrong.
Here is the scenario I am working with: both of CSI Works’ barcode parsers are installed

Troubleshooting:

CSI Works support: Send us a picture of your label.

barcode pic

Solution:

CSI Works support: This is a price embedded barcode (the price of the item is within the numbers of the barcode, the first 4 of the last 5 digits, “0620”.), so you need to use the Variable Price Barcode Parser. You need to uninstall the weight-embedded barcode parser:

More Tools App > Weight-embedded Barcode Parser > uninstall

Merchant: I already have the Variable Price Barcode Parser.

CSI Works support: Now open the app. What does it say about configuration?

Merchant: It says “Configuration is not complete. App is not ready for use.” It says to press these buttons:

close the app. Go to the Settings app > accessibility > Variable Price Barcode Parser > flip the switch to give it the permissions it needs to function.

CSI Works support: now close the settings and open the Inventory app. Tell me about your chicken salad item:

Inventory app > edit the item > this person has:

Chicken Salad

  • per-unit pricing

    • unit of measure is lb

    • price rate is $8.99

  • product code is 200097

Merchant: When I scan the barcode now, it comes up with the price of $106.20 (an extra $100 more than what’s on the label)

CSI Works support: The Barcode Parser App is reading an extra leading digit in the barcode, so you need to change it's settings:

> Open Variable Price Barcode Parser app > top-right corner there’s a settings icon, go there. > chose the barcode $99.99 format

Merchant: Back at the reister app, I scan again. It's working perfectly!
