Q&A

Merchant:

A merchant reached out to our support team because they had questions about Clover’s sell by weight capabilities. The merchant was interested in adding three digits after the decimal point. By default Clover uses two digits after the decimal point. The third decimal digit from the decimal point is the thousandths digit.

For example, this merchant sells candy by the pound. In order for this merchant to sell 1/8 a pound, they need to enter 0.125 which are three digits after the decimal point. Can this be done in the Clover Register app?

CSI Works Support:

Yes, it can be done.

But not on the scale. The thousands value can only be entered manually.

Here is a video that demonstrates Clover sell by weight capabilities:

Q&A

Agent:

An agent who has merchants in Canada wanted to know if they purchase their CAS LP1000N in Canada, if they could still connect them to their Clover devices, and download the Variable Price Barcode Parser app from the App market. This way, the barcode that gets printed can be scanned by cashier at checkout.

CSI Works Support:

Yes.

Except there is no physical connection between Label Printing scale like CAS LP1000N and Clover.

The app (Variable Price Barcode Parse) enables Clover to read price embedded barcode from Scale.

You will setup your items in Clover as variable and scan the barcodes in Register app.

A merchant wanted to know if they could use Variable Price Barcode Parser and Weight Embedded Barcode Parser,

CSI Works Support:

We have 2 different apps one for Price embedded Barcodes and one for Weight Embedded Barcodes.

It would not be possible to utilize both apps at once. They are meant to work in absolute sort of way.

You can configure your scale to print weight embedded barcodes or price embedded barcode and use one or the other app from us.

But you cannot have different scale configured to different barcode formats and be able to scan both on Clover. You would have to choose which format you want to use.

Q&A

Merchant:

I bought a scale from you last year and I’m using your apps on Clover.

Here are our challenges:

We want all our products to move to weight only on the bar code since pricing in agriculture is going up.

Can we setup your app to recognize the old and new label and parse them correctly?

Our existing products have the last four digits, before the final check digit reserved for the price.

New products will have the last four digits reserved for the weight.

In the picture Pork Chops is New and Beef is old.

We use the scale we bought from you to also make a chicken label with price in the bar code.  We have to work

with you to change that to the weight as well.

Q&A

Agent:

We have a merchant that will be using your application. However, the LS-100 that we were trying to scan the barcodes for. After the setup, it was doing the opposite as described on the app market.

In other words, the scanned item, Instead of pricing up and pushing the custom info, it wanted to add it into the clover inventory, and we would need to name it and hit save.

The merchant was thinking if this is how the application works. Then they would see no reason to use it.

This is why I need your help.

I captured two pictures to see if it can help.

The barcode info shows 2 00000 31398 2.

I was thinking were the 0’s is should it have been 6 digits?

And if you ask accessibility was enabled for the Weight embedded barcode parser, as described on the tutorial setup on your app market.

CSI Works Support:

I have a question In the attached picture where you show barcode I see that you have installed app called Variable Price Barcode Parser.

That is in fact the app you need.

However in email before you reference Weight Embedded Barcode Parser as one for which you’ve enabled the accessibility settings.

If you are using the app Weight Embedded Barcode Parser please uninstall it. Based on label I see you need Variable Price Barcode Paser.

Now assuming that you have Variable Price Barcode Parser installed and that accessibility settings are turned on.

You need to first open inventory app and add this new item to your inventory when you do add it to inventory do so as Variable Price item and not as fixed priced.

Then in product code field enter 200000

Save this item in inventory then you can go to register and scan this barcode and the price will be picked up as you expect.

Agent:

To have clarity we can have an item like this in the inventory.

And moving forward any other scanned label.

From the LS-100 weight scale would work?

CSI Works Support:

Blas yes this would work.

Just need to set it up first. Please reference this video: https://youtu.be/f8FKjVPnjME

Agent:

I wanted to reach out to you and say thank you. It appears that we won the battle of the barcodes but not the war.

The Clover App parser was also providing some miss match reading. I wanted to confirm if the merchant scale was not properly set up. Since on the miss match reading It was accurate.

Maybe you can help I am attaching this image so you could see. The pattern of some of these items.

Notes:

200111 50154 4  Price showed up as $501.54

200115 00220 7 Price showed correct as $2.20

200101 50154 7 Price showed up as $501.54

200167 00176 0 Price showed correct $1.76

CSI Works Support:

Yes, I see the image and notes of how the price is read. To fix this issue follow these instructions:

  1. Open Variable Price Barcode Parser.
  2. Navigate to Settings on the Top Corner.
  3. Barcode Format
  4. Choose the barcode format that is represented for $99.99
  5. Save

This will adjust the way our app reads the barcode, and you won’t have to adjust the barcode on the scale.

Agent:

You’re instructions worked great. In addition, I added the descriptor and the first 6-digit barcode.

And all the custom cuts for the listing worked and the merchant was happy.

If you could provide a full listing of compatible weight scale models. This would be great to know this gives hope to merchants. With already purchase weight scales a chance to update their POS.

Your application would be my first recommendation to merchants with a Deli, Mini Market, Super Market.

CSI Works Support:

I do not have a list of models but here is a formula for you to go by:

If the scale your merchant has prints barcode labels and printer is integrated into scale, then it will work 100% if you are looking at a scale and printer connected to scale with wire that setup will never work.

If you have merchants who ask for scale to purchase keep in mind we sell and fully support and train merchants when they buy equipment from us.

You can see what we sell here: www.scale4clover.com

I am also attaching a PDF document showing what we have to offer to “Sell By Weight” merchants.

Do Old CAS LP1000 Work with Clover?

Type: Support Call

Call Reported On: 2020-06-17

Products Discussed: Variable Price Barcode Parser

Q&A

Agent:

The merchant is looking for a scale that would integrate with Clover, print labels with a bar code, ingredients list, price and possibly his logo. It needs to be easy to program with the ability to use the Clove to input the info.

He uses an older CAS scale with printer and he has to program it which he hates cause it takes so long.

Can you help, will you support the scale and what would you recommend and price?

CSI Works Support:

Yes, we support everything we sell.

What is the scale he has now? Is it CAS LP1000?

Agent:

CAS label printer. Do these types work through Clover?

CSI Works Support:

Yes, this is an OLD CAS LP1000 model aka (ABC)

It does not connect to computer and only way to program things is via the scale itself.

The New CAS LP1000N model has an ability to connect to computer with USB cable.

Via computer merchant can interface with the scale in a much more efficient and faster way.

The computer must be windows based with USB connections.

In all other respects the scale will look and function similarly to the one they have now.

Agent:

Does it tie into the Clover at all? Or just a window computer? Is this the best choice for his needs? Pricing wise and support, how does that work? I think we were both thinking that in some way it worked thru the clover POS.

So the PLU part goes away when using a windows based computer.

Does it matter which clover device and which SaaS device is chosen, even though there really isn’t an integration per se.

What would the next steps be for the merchant? He has two clover mini’s right now that are customer facing for payments only.

CSI Works Support:

The only scale that can connect to Clover in any way is CAS SW-RS the 20 lb capacity without label printing capabilities.

All other scale technically never connects to clover

We make label printing scale work with clover via the barcode the scale prints. This is where our Variable Price barcode parser app comes into play.

Before it all works merchant will be expected to setup items in Clover and in Scale

The item codes will match in both system and that’s what makes it work

There are shortcuts. For instance, if items are setup on Clover like Variable price items

Then merchant is only expected to update pricing for items in their scale. If they have items setup as per unit then the merchant will have to duplicate the setup of items on both systems.

The only way to interface with CAS scale is either via the scale itself or with USB connected windows-based computer.

When bought from us we provide unlimited support and training via phone and zoom where needed. As a last resort I do things on my end and make videos for merchant to follow.

I am sorry I can’t get involved in troubleshooting this specific scale.

I try to prioritize my investment of time to customers who support us. I otherwise would go out of business.

I am extremely hands on with customers who buy equipment from us here www.cas4clover.com

For everyone else I do the best I can which is videos and other support material and basic setup instructions. Beyond that the dealer who sold it should get involved.

Problem Statement:

Merchant: HI, I have a Clover station and a scale and I have a Brother printer that hooks to it that will print UPC labels from easy label but I am struggling to figure out how to print variable weighted barcodes.

I have a small meat market where we use the Clover for sales and I don't use barcodes - but I am trying to put my products into a local grocery store and I have acquired my GS1 code and I have started generating barcodes but before I continue down this path, I need to figure out how to get a properly processed barcode through my system that I can add to my meat to then sell to the grocery store.

I have a CAS - SW Series Scale

Will your app help me for example - put a piece of meat on the scale - register it in clover - generate a variable weight barcode using my GS1 number?

Solution:

CSI Works Support: The setup you have may not work because you probably won’t be able to program the printer individually to print weight or price embedded barcodes.

I am recommending that you look at some of these scales that are best for meat markets and do the barcode label printing with price or weight embedded barcodes.

You can see the video of such scale working with clover here: https://youtu.be/UZRs05HLnnw

Q&A

Agent: Great work on your Clover apps!

I have a new grocery store client who is looking to purchase 3 scales to integrate to Clover. Looks like you have a couple apps, one that works with many scales, and the other that works with CAS.

I was going to point them towards using this one from your site, unless you have other suggestions?

It also states you provide support. Do you offer setup/training calls to familiarize themselves with your system + app?

Even though the CL5000 scale is discontinued, will it still work with your app if a merchant has one?

CSI Works Support: With the use of Variable Price Barcode Parser merchants can use any label printing scale.

We certainly sell it and the link you mentioned www.cas4clover.com is our site.

If your merchant purchases their scale from us then the training, support and assistance with scale is included as well as assistance with setup on clover via Variable price barcode parser. We provide assistance via phone, zoom call, combination of videos we make based on situation with merchants.

In any case we assist 100% to get setup and address merchants questions in the process.
