Why is Clover Register Reading Barcodes Wrong?

Why is Clover Register Reading Barcodes Wrong?

Type: Support Call

Call Reported On: 02-15-2022

Products Discussed: Variable Price Barcode Parser

Q&A

Merchant:

We had a merchant contact us needing help with their barcodes switching prices. The merchant was able to print a barcode for orders over $100. However, Clover register only read it as less than $100. Therefore, a ticket that was $150 with a barcode was being read as $50 in the register.

CSI Works Support:

The solution to this problem is to update the scale to print the barcode over $100.00 Then, on Clover go to Variable Price barcode parser app and click on settings icon on the top corner and choose up to $999.99 barcode type. This should resolve this issue.

Q&A

Agent:

We had an agent contact us because their merchant was interested in implementing Variable Price Barcode Parser. Before installing the app, they wanted to know where the app is pulling the price per lb. – from the barcode, or from Clover?

Meat prices change all the time.  Therefore, they wanted to know if the app is pulling the pricing from the barcode only, can the price per lb. be set to 0 in Clover, so there’s never confusion. The agent explained that this way the merchant only would have to update the price per lb. on the scale and disregard updating Clover.

CSI Works Support:

Yes, you can use Variable Price Barcode Parser app to do this.

In Clover setup an item as Variable and this way you’d never have to adjust pricing on Clover and it will always be picked up from barcode.

How to Remove Multiple Containers in the Unit Tare App

Is it Possible to Remove Multiple Containers in the Unit Tare App?

January 23, 2022

This article will be discussing how to utilize the Unit Tare App and how to run a scenario where a customer places multiple containers of the same item on a scale.

Let’s imagine a customer comes in with several containers of the same item and you need to deduct those containers.

Step 1: To do this, you will operate the Register app as you normally would.

Step 2: You will select the item in your register.

Step 3: In the Set Unit Quantity screen, click the Green Add button.

Step4: This will trigger the Unit Tare app to open up. You click the button that says “multiple mode“.

This will turn the button green and allow you to remove the containers.

For this example, add 3 small cups.

Step 5: Click the green Confirm button. This will do remove multiple containers at once.

Conclusion

Utilizing the Unit Tare App can allow your store to run effectively.

Q&A

Merchant:

A merchant contact us because they were testing the Variable Price Barcode Parser app.
The merchant was getting different results when placing an item as variable versus per unit. The variable settings amounts were matching the barcode. However, when placed as fixed the amounts were off by one penny.

CSI Works Support:

The reason the merchant was having this experience was because the Variable Price Barcode Parser app does not work when an item is set to Fixed.

Now the correct way to parse the price embedded barcode is Variable.

The rounding error the merchant was experiencing had to do the several calculations.

The scale calculates total price by multiplying total weight by per unit programmed in scale. Then, on Clover, when set up per unit it does backward calculation, and this creates 3 calculations of the number back and forth. Sometime rounding becomes off by a penny.

The quick solution is to use Variable price setting.

If, the merchant wants to use per unit option on their scale, they would need to change the barcode to print total weight instead of total price. Then, on Clover they would use Weight Embedded Barcode Parser and uninstall Variable Price Barcode Parser.

The following scan a weight that does not correspond to the package weight: T Bone  7.7117 lb. Smoked Bacon 93.287 lb.

When our team looked into the issue, all three labels worked.

The difference was that we did put the setting for $99.99 price type.

And one of the items we setup as Variable vs. Per Unit.

Q&A

Agent:

An agent contacted our office because his merchant was using the Variable Price Barcode Parser and reported that the barcodes weren’t reading the correct information. Our merchant wrote:

“I set the merchant up to test their scale.

When the merchant scans this barcode clover reads 23.114 lb at $300.25

I am using the Variable Price Barcode Parser with 200035 in product code field.

We enabled the app in accessibility.”

CSI Works Support:

First check what kind of barcodes you are printing and ensure you have installed the appropriate app.

For this type of an error, we asked that they uninstall Variable Price Barcode Parser and install Weight Embedded Barcode Parser.

This is because the label provided in the picture is Weight Embedded and not price embedded.

How to Exclude Weight Based Items from Triggering Unit Tare App

How to Exclude Weight Based Items from Triggering Unit Tare App

SAN DIEGO, CA, January 14, 2021 – A while ago we launched Unit Tare App, which was formerly known as Container Tare App. The beauty of the Unit Tare App is that you can basically set it up any possible way that you can think of.

This article is going to focus on how to exclude an item from triggering Unit Tare. This function will come in handy when there is no container or the weight of the container is included in the price. For whatever reason you want to exclude that particular item from being trigger.

For example, let’s say you have a sirloin and that item should get triggered since it’s a unit of measure per pound. We are set up per pound and everything looks good so we are triggering on sirloin. Let’s say it’s a small cup.

We are set up per pound and everything looks good so we are triggering on sirloin. Let’s say it’s a small cup.

If this isn’t what you want, there is an additional functionality where you can take a qualified item, for all intents and purposes, the sirloin and you can exclude that item from being triggered.

How to Exclude and Item

Now, if you want to exclude this sirloin from being triggered, this is what you have to do.

Click the Unit Tare icon on your device.

Go to settings

Select exceptions

We need to find that item and for this examples;

Click meats, sirloin

Click save

Exit.

Now, when we go and add the sirloin item again, as you can see it’s not being triggered anymore. The reason why it’s no longer triggering is because we have added that particular item to the exclusion list. So, pretty cool function. With the Unit Tare. You can basically set it up any possible way that you can think of, that’s the beauty of the Unit Tare App.

How do I Add Custom Fields to my customer form on Clover POS?

How to Add or Remove Fields for Customers in Clover POS | Customer Plus Plus Cloud CRM

Type: Support Call

Call Reported On: 09-03-2021

Products Discussed: Customer Plus Plus

Q&A

Merchant:

A merchant using Customer Plus Plus for Clover asked:

“How do I add custom fields and/or suppress system fields to the Customer Plus Plus for Clover?”

CSI Works Support:

Here is the how to video:

https://youtu.be/o5-pIy0IUIg

First of all, each customer type has its own customer form. Once you start modifying customer forms you have to remember which type you have done it for because each type has its own customer forms.

For example, if you go to a customer inside cool leads. Click “Edit Profile“. Then, click “Edit Page“. This takes me to a list of fields that this customer type has and we can move these around. We can make last name first, first name last. We can also take notes and move the fields around. We can also make all the fields required or optional or we can completely turn them off, which means we can make them disappear from this form all together.

We can obviously add fields. To add a field, click the “Add” button and the types of fields we can add are defined in the “Field Type” drop down menu. You can name your field in the “Field Label” box. Then, you can type in the desired items in the “Add Item” section. Then, click “Add Field“. It gets added all the way to the bottom and the location can be adjusted by dragging the row. When done click “Save“.

How to Eliminate Rounding Issues on Clover POS

How to Eliminate Rounding Issues on Clover POS | Variable Price Barcode Parser App

Type: Support Call

Call Reported On: 08-26-2021

Products Discussed: Weight Embedded Barcode Parser, Variable Price Barcode Parser app

Q&A

Agent:

An agent let us know that his merchant downloaded Variable Price Barcode Parser app and needed our support. He wrote:

“Attached is a file with two copies of scale receipts.  They use a Digi SM-5000 scale.

Can you advise a setup that will eliminate the rounding issue?

The merchant is using the Variable Price Barcode Parser app.”

CSI Works Support:

There are two ways to solve this issue

  1. Quick way.

Switch the item to Variable instead of Per Unit in Clover Inventory app this will resolve the wrong rounding issue.

  1. Longer Way.

If your merchant wants to see the weight on transaction and wants to keep using Per Unit then they would need to switch their scale settings to print weight embedded barcode instead of price embedded and on Clover, they would remove Variable Price Barcode Parser and install Weight Embedded Barcode Parser.
